Christ the King Receives Prestigious Oscar Romero Award

hrist the King Sixth Forms is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Oscar Romero Award at Participator Level in recognition of our commitment to Catholic Social Teaching (CST), social justice, and solidarity. The award was presented at a special ceremony at Southwark Cathedral, where our students had the privilege of representing CTK alongside other award recipients.

The Archbishop, John Wilson, and the Oscar Romero Representative, Mugeni Sumba, commended CTK for our dedication to these values, noting how rare it is for a sixth form to receive this award. Our students were exemplary ambassadors, fully engaged in the ceremony and demonstrating the ethos of CTK with pride.

Canon Michael Branch, Cathedral Dean, also acknowledged the significant progress CTK has made over the years, reinforcing our commitment to living out our mission and values. We extend our sincere gratitude to the staff who accompanied our students, ensuring this was a truly meaningful and memorable occasion.

This achievement is one we will continue to celebrate across our community. As we mark the 45th anniversary of Oscar Romero’s passing, we will be sharing reflections on his legacy and how it aligns with our mission.

We look forward to further promoting Oscar Romero’s teachings and values in our classrooms, community service, and throughout CTK.
