A professional sixth form centre for excellence 9 Ameera - T Level Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering student Ameera completed work placements at Quod and Wates. She achieved Merit (equivalent to BBB at A Level) and is doing Mechanical Engineering at the University of Greenwich. My Industry Placement “I chose to be an engineering student at CTK because I wanted to be able to learn a lot about the engineering industry whilst gaining hands-on experience during the course. I know practical work would help me understand how things work in real situations, not just in theory. I completed a work placement at a company called Quod, where I gained experience in project management. During my time there, I developed an understanding of how projects are planned and coordinated, and it was really beneficial to see how the industry works in a real professional environment. I also learned how teamwork and communication are important for delivering projects successfully. I also had the chance to shadow projects within the industry that were local to our school. Our T Levels include a 45-day industry placement - see pages 19-23 for details My Personal Achievements One of my first achievements was passing my CSCS test which will give me access to sites and understand health and safety standards. I was also able to complete another work placement with Wates where they gave me insight on the construction and engineering industry, and I also went to multiple live events where I gained knowledge about different companies and how their apprenticeships work. These events helped me grow my confidence in a professional setting. My Organisational Impact CTK has helped me improve myself in many ways, especially by building my confidence. The support from teachers and tutors has helped me feel more confident in my studies and in my abilities. This has allowed me to present myself more confidently when applying to companies for degree apprenticeships and show that I am capable and motivated to succeed.”
